HOUSTON (September, 2012) – “Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show”—that sexy, campy, rock ‘n’ roll musical—will be produced at Vue Nightclub.
Heading the entirely local cast of “Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show” is KUHT-TV’s Ernie Manouse as the Narrator and local nightlife celebrity, Tye Blue, as Dr. Frank ’N’ furter. The extraordinarily talented cast includes Bobby Haworth and Beth Lazarou as Brad and Janet, Ronna Mansfield and Scott Lupton as Riff Raff and Magenta, Arianna Bermudez as Columbia, and Colton Berry as Eddie/Dr. Scott. The show also features the powerful vocals of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Houston, backing up the leading cast.
This production is the first in a tremendous season of musical theatre produced by Houston’s newest musical theatre company, Bayou City Theatrics. “After the success of last year’s self-produced version of ‘Rocky,’ I knew it was the perfect show to begin this new venture,” says Colton Berry, the company’s Artistic Director. “We are so excited to introduce Houston to our innovative theatre concepts through ‘The Rocky Horror Show’ and the rest of our incredible 2012/2013 season!”
“You may think you know ‘Rocky,’ but you’ve never seen anything like this,” adds Berry . “Our cast of some of Houston’s finest performers will have you up on your feet and dancing in the aisles. We are positive this will be not only one rocking piece of musical theatre, but an event to remember for a lifetime!”
Berry is joined by Bayou City Theatrics’ Artistic Associate, Beth Lazarou as co-director/designer. Jane Volke music directs and William Martin choreographs.
