Set in the gin-doused Roaring Twenties, ANDREW LIPPA'S WILD PARTY transports you to New York City and into the lives of Vaudeville’s sexiest dancer and twisted clown, Queenie (Danica Johnston) and Burrs (Colton Berry). After what seems like a lifetime of unsuccessful lusts and loves, the pair find each other through the hazy backdrop of jazz and hangovers. However, they too come to experience their own hangover, in the form of redundant normalcy. Determined to add some heat to their stagnant lives, Queenie decides to throw the party of the century. As their tiny loft begins to buzz and spin with all seven of the deadliest sins, the party’s hosts fall victim to their own iniquity.
Bayou City Theatrics’ “red-hot summer musical” also stars Jake Frank as Black, Queenie’s newest conquest, and Erin Wasmund as Kate, the cocaine-fueled lush with eyes for Burrs. The production features a cast of outrageous party-goers from Madelaine True, the brash lesbian with a heart of gold (Miatta Lebile) to Eddie and Mae, a pugilist and his blushing bride (Miguel Garcia and Derrien Kellum) to Jackie, the sweet dancer with no tongue (Luke Hamilton) as well as the D’Armano brothers, composers and lovers (Scott Lupton and Terran Swonke), Nadine, the not-so-innocent minor (Shanae'a Moore), Sam, the greasy producer (Brian Chambers) and Delores (Kelly Waguespack), the foul-mouthed hooker.
With its raucous, infectious score by Andrew Lippa (The Addams Family), explosive choreography by Luke Hamilton, lavish costuming, and a slew of energetic, intricate characters all drenched in seduction and sin, THE WILD PARTY is sure to get your summer sizzling!
Performances run Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 p.m., July 18 through 27 at the Barnevelder Movement/Arts Complex. Tickets are on sale now at www.BayouCityTheatrics.com.
