Come out for a fun, thought-provoking night to hear from distinguished panelists and engage in dialogue about what is at stake for our LGBTQ kids of color here in Houston. We will have a diverse panel of leaders, including school leaders and representatives from Houston, community based organizations, students, and school leaders. The event is free and open to the public, so we look forward to seeing you there.
A broad Conversation Series panel called “The State of Education in LGBTQ America” that will
a. Offer a panel of LGBTQ and allied leaders in education and youth development who’ll respond to challenges and opportunities.
b. Breakouts that engage community members in 5 key areas:
i. School Community and Culture
ii. Family and Community
iii. Teacher Preparation
iv. Policy and Advocacy
v. Direct Student Support
c. There will be a report back of recommendations from these groups that can guide the work of CBOs and Youth programs, Houston public schools, as well as the work of Teach For America.
