Public Candlelight Vigil Planned: ALL ARE WELCOME | The City of Houston will host a public candlelight vigil in remembrance of the victims of the Orlando shooting rampage.
7:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2016
Houston City Hall
901 Bagby, Houston, TX 77002
In another sign of respect and support, Houston City Hall will be lit with LGBT pride colors in the evening hours through June 26, 2016, the last day of Houston's Pride weekend.
"Like the rest of the country, Houston is grieving," said Mayor Turner. "It is past time for us as a country to come together against hatred toward any person or persons based on group affiliation - enough is enough. We stand with Orlando, with the families of those killed or injured, with the LGBT community and against violence anywhere."
Mayor Turner is in active communication with Acting Houston Police Chief Martha Montalvo about HPD's plans for addressing safety concerns during Houston's Pride weekend.
