Bruce Conner: An Assemblage of Films
Saturday Feb 11 7:00pm-8:30pm in Houston
In addition to creating sculpture, painting and photography, Bruce Conner was also a prolific filmmaker whose avant-garde films were innovative with their fast paced montages and assemblages of found footage including countdown leaders, training films, and newsreels. He revolutionized the use of appropriated imagery in film. Presented on 16mm, the selection of films highlights some of Conner’s most influential works including: 3 Screen Ray, A Movie, Breakaway, Report, America is Waiting and others.

These films are co-presented by the Menil Collection and Aurora Picture Show in conjunction with the exhibition Holy Barbarians: Beat Culture on the West Coast on view at the Menil through March 12, 2017.
