There are a handful of bookstores/gift shops that I've been two - I can think of one in Amsterdam, one in Tokyo, a couple in London... and Domy Books in Houston, and I believe Austin. I had a great conversation with a women there about a book from Taschen "The Big Penis Book", and found as well a gay magazine focusing on... autofellatio? But all of this is beside compilations of "Peanuts", "RAW" magazine, Industrial Research, and an almost museum-quality selection of counterculture works from 20 years. A staggering collection of Japanese plastic toys. A small wall of art DVD's. Drawings and other artwork by local artists. Gay, in the sense that there's lots of gay artbooks and sensibility, and in a gay neighborhood. Across the street and down the block from "Empire Cafee" Almost nothing else like it in the city. Well worth a trip.
