A young, trendy, urban professional crowd fills this Houston standard both for happy hour and for nights out. The pool table, dancing, and video screens make for a great time, and the airy New Orleans-style patio is a great meetup place any time of the week.

Montrose Icon
The busiest gay bar in Houston and one of the busiest in Texas! The best place to see a wide variety of people. A must do if you are a visitor or not. Could use a little updating but overall, you will be glad you visited! As I stated in another review...This is the Rodeo Drive of Houston's Montrose district. This bar would be the Mercedes next to it's sister bar, SOBE, the Rolls Royce!
Relaxed & Laid Back, but...
JR's is one of the mainstays of the Houston bar scene and no matter how many years it's been since you've been there it never seems to change. You always feel that same relaxed laid back feeling as you would any local bar or your own. The people are funky & freindly....some a little to much. But, when it's all said & done you'll have a good time, albeit young or young @ heart! Check it out for "Happy Hour".
Lost in Houston
Found this place online on my last trip to Houston. First gay bar I have been to in Houston. The crowd was cool...or wannabes...young at heart. I liked it enough to go back two nights later where I met the best fling of my life...needless to say...we still meet...thanks JR's!!
Nice place, diverse but attractive crowd
JR's is a fairly big, fairly friendly, fairly preppy bar (or complex of bars) on Pacific Street in Montrose. The main bar area features big crowds and cute go-go dancers; there are some tables where you can sit and talk to friends as well. Behind that is a billards area (the table is usually in great demand), and there's another large bar (formerly a separate place called Santa Fe) attached to that; this is where karaoke and other special events take place. There's also an outdoor bar and patio when the weather is nice, which is most of the time in Houston. The decor could use some updating, but this is a place where you can meet a lot of cool people... many of whom will end up next door at South Beach come the wee hours of the morning.
