Houston Pride Band, in partnership with Friends of the Houston Public Library, presents its final concert of the 2013-2014 season, entitled “Houston Pride Band Reads a Book”. This free event will take place at Resurrection Metropolitan Community Church (2025 West 11th Street) on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at 3:00 PM. This spring, Houston Pride Band will perform music based on familiar literary works. Examples include Herman Melville’s “Moby Dick”, Aesop’s Fables, Shakespeare’s “Romeo & Juliet”, and Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven”. Band members will use narration or song to enhance the music. Houston Pride Band’s featured musical ensemble, SaxWorx, will also perform.
Houston Pride Band serves as a community band in Houston’s LGBT community and performs at various community events throughout the year as well as concerts and parades. Houston Pride Band is open to all brass, woodwind, and percussion players and welcomes musicians of all skill levels.
