Part 1: Conversation with Kathryn Hall and Thirst Artists

Come join us Wednesday, August 24th at 6pm at Capsule Gallery. We will be hosting a conversation with Kathryn Hall, curator at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) and artists Jan Harrell, Jessica Phillips, Heidi Gerstacker, Susan Budge, and Corey Ackelmire as they discuss their work in our current exhibition THIRST. THIRST celebrates the vessels and accessories that facilitate our enjoyment of summertime drinks through the display of both functional and decorative works. THIRST showcases local, national and international artists working in a number of materials–including David Clarke's intimate Ever So Slightly Sloshed 2 pewter cup, Cheyenne Mallo's tufted ceramic mugs, Rebecca Arday's and David Schnukel's vintage inspired soda pop glass, and Sandie Zilker's 3D printed Dot Shot. Kathryn Hall is Curator at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) where she previously served as the Curatorial Fellow from 2012—2015, with the generous support of the Windgate Charitable Foundation. Kathryn holds an MA in Art History from the University of Georgia. She has contributed to Metalsmith as well as Studio Potter Magazine. Kathryn currently serves on the ClayHouston board, an organization that supports Houston artists working in ceramics. Part two of the talks will happen August 31st 6-8 PM.
