Palmbomen is Dutch for palm trees, which Kai Hugo never actually saw until he toured the US in his early 20s. Palm trees are an easy thing to idealize for someone who grew up in a place without them, vaguely evoking a far-off utopia where it's always summer and leisure is the law of the land. That's the vibe of Palmbomen II, which has the tropical feel of a wish-you-were-here postcard. Hugo's first album, 2013's Night Flight Europa, sent Italo disco through warmed-over filters and was meant to be played live with a full band. His new one, under the name Palmbomen II, is a solo effort recorded at his mom's house in Holland. Holed up in the attic, Hugo developed an odd obsession with The X-Files (all the tracks are named after bit characters from the series) and churned out jam after jam of easygoing analog house. The record that came out of it transforms the warm glow of sunlight into something endearingly stuffy. (Excerpt from RA album review)

- Shea McGilvray (LIVE) -
Shea's had a bit of a busy year, quietly flying just under everyone's radar yet making big waves in the sea of SoundCloud uploads. A very prolific producer, he's been making music for around 10 years but only last October did things really started clicking for him. His productions vary from ethereal ambient pieces to warehouse shaking techno bangers heavy with field recordings, all tied together with a murky haze that's all his own. With releases on Shimmering Moods, something in the pipeline for Natural Sciences and a handful of other physical and digital release too early to talk about, it won't be long before you start seeing this San Antonio native's name popping up in the charts of your favorite selectors.

- John Calero -
From obscure German post punk to floor filling disco gems, what John's got in his bag is always a mystery. His Alleys of your Mind mix series, which celebrates it's second year this October, covers a wide terrain and occasionally features guest mixes from the likes of Robert Bergman, Rawaat, Throwing Shade and most recently TX Connect to name a few. Expect the unexpected with his sets, you never know where the alleys of Calero's mind might take you.
