American Apparel

100% love it
GayCities Members report that American Apparel has closed
Downtown LA in Montrose
An outpost of the famous (and infamous) Los Angeles retail monster, home of the cool, casual and concrete urban-retro/hipster look.

      The Big Mix
It's hard to be fashion forward, mid-stream, and retro at the same time, offensive but alluring, but American Apparel does it (sounds so American, really)... Shorts for men that are actually... short. Endless low-cost teeshirts at a striking range of quality, sweatpants, hoodies, if it's cheap, cotton, and can be in a rainbow of colors and sizes, they have it here. But... there's more - XXL gold spandex leotards; neon green tanktops; soft-as-butter oversize lycra teeshirts; and even more. Puts traditional "Gay" shops - M2M in Houston, All American Boy in LA/SF to shame, and at the same time shows up The Gap for how overpriced they are. Always a pleasure to shop here - bare-bones, well-thought-out interior (the clothing shop version of an Apple Store), and not infrequently shocking gay magazines thoughtlessly put out on coffee tables for straight girls to ogle.
